My name is Ssentongo Ronald from Ntinda-Kampala. I got to know about WOP from a friend and came onto the programme in August 2011.
I had no hope for further education because my parents had no money to support me after Advanced level 6 and by that time, I felt my life would only be destined to laziness and determined by uncertainties.
My character at the time of entry to the programme was characterized by low self confidence which today can only be put on paper for reference purposes otherwise, I believe in what I do and really see a bright future after WOP.
Surviving without a job became the most challenging thing in my life but through WOP, I completed a 2 day soft skills course at Nakulabye Catholic Parish, and went onto hard skills training in Electronics repair and Maintenance at Young Mens' Christian Association (YMCA)-Wandegeya.
All this training has not left me the same and thereafter, my life has changed socially because of the colleagues I interacted with at YMCA; the clients I interact with at work and financially, no doubt, I do earn a living. Great thanks to Uganda Kolping Society, the trainers and every body who has contributed to my future.
My worry was whether I would actually get to a point of repairing electronics mainly DVDs, VCDs and mobile phones which I do at best today as a Senior Mechanic in Wandegeya and do have plans of opening up a big outlet for phone accessories, Electronics and general repairs in Ntinda.
